     1. the political direction of those who favor progress toward better conditions in government and society

     1. a person believing in reasonable political change and social improvement through political action

2.  Definition of  REFORM:  to improve by change

3.  Muckrakers:  journalists who exposed problems in society, business and government
      Examples:  Lewis Hine: The Camera as a Tool for Social Reform
                 Jacob Riis' How The Other Half Lives exposes city living        
   According to Riis, what was life like in American cities during the Industrial Era?
