I was a Great Depression Teenager: Chapter 1

HW: Flippin' Vocab Due Friday. Great Depression, Bankruptcy  Overproduction,
Stock Market

Goal: Create a historical fiction narrative that includes character reactions to the causes and effects of the Great Depression.

1. A young man named Steve lived in an apartment in New York City. He worked as a refrigerator salesman and lived comfortably with his brother, Bill. They appeared happy and prosperous.  Suddenly, one day in 1932, Steve decided he had to sell his brand new car and move to Central New York. When Steve arrived in Central New York, he lived in a cabin in the woods and each day went to school and then dug holes in the ground.  Steve missed his brother, Bill, and their comfortable life together. Steve would get a letter from Bill from time to time, but they were never sent from the same place.

CAN YOU SOLVE IT? You must figure out why Steve would leave the comfort of his home in New York City.
