1. Problem Statement:
In 2001, a button from a Union soldier was found in a Confederate submarine.
Context Information:
On the evening of February 17, 1864, the Confederate Submarine, H. L. Hunley, became the world's first successful combat submarine by sinking the Union forces USS Housatonic. After signaling to shore that the mission had been accomplished, the submarine and her crew of eight vanished.
It was not discovered until 1997. Inside the H.L. Hunley, a Confederate submarine, archaeologists discovered a Union Infantry button. This tag was found bearing the name and class of Ezra Chamberlain, Private, 7th Connecticut Infantry, Union Forces.
